Pine is an inexpensive soft wood that is prone to splintering especially during assembly. You do not want to trust the weight of your wine collection in pine racking. Redwood is a hardwood and also prone to splintering. Depending on the grade it has an inconsistent grain, knots and does not take stain well. Looks great for outside decking! Mahogany is a hardwood that is rich in style, consistent in grain, easy to stain and extremely sturdy. Mahogany is the preferred wood for high end furniture manufacturers and retailers and will last a lifetime. |
